Over the past year, the Duluth Solar Garden has received national attention. Officials on the local, state, and federal level gathered in Duluth to highlight the achievement and commitment to community. The year ahead looks to be an eventful one as well.
Some proceeds from the solar garden are being used to continue efficiency efforts. Weatherization for households, particularly for homes of young black mothers, is the focus of the non-profit organization Divine Konnections. "That's exactly type of investment we should be making in our community, says Jodi Slick, the Founder and CEO of Ecolibrium3.
In the wake of the Inflation Reduction Act, tax credits and rebates will be made available, likely in the spring of 2025. In order to keep up with upcoming demand for household improvements, Ecolibrium3 is launching an Americorps program to train individuals to perform energy audits and to fulfill some of the more basic - but impactful - services, like caulking windows.
While staying ahead of progressing legislation and a changing climate, Slick continually focuses on the power of connectivity. "Communities that are connected are the ones that are the most resilient to climate impacts."
