Backyard Almanac: Light on Snow, Late on the Freeze

Is the freeze-up on the way? Larry Weber has noticed some small ponds and bays freezing up, but nothing has stuck just yet. "What I'm waiting for is the days the temperature doesn't get above freezing all day," says Weber.

November typically covers the Northland with a foot or so of snow, but this year we've yet to see an inch. With one week to go in the month it's looking more and more unlikely that we'll end on par.

Along with some late-stage migration, strange bird sightings, and sounds from the woods, there's a lot to see in the outdoors even in the gray days of November.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
