Tips for Hardy Gardeners: Prepping for the Changing Seasons

No, it's not winter yet, but it is time to start prepping for, not only winter, but also next spring.

Tom Kasper recommends now as the time to get extra water to lilac bushes as well as other flowering plants. The past three years have been dry, so an extra boost of hydration and nourishment will make for a more colorful spring bloom.

Winter prep starts with protecting trees. Younger trees can become a target for young bucks aiming to shed the fuzzy layer from their antlers. It only takes a couple of minutes for a deer to destroy a tree... and it only takes a couple minutes to wrap a tree to potentially save it.

You can hear Tips for Hardy Gardeners every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
