During the month of October, local artist Tashia Hart stayed busy in the director's chair during principal filming of The Gichigami Gazette, a paranormal comedy slated for a 2027 release.
"The Gichigami Gazette is about two kinds of storytellers," says Hart. "It's sort of like a buddy story." The film focuses on journalist Pam and oral storyteller Gary - one among the living, the other deceased.
Hart was co-writer and part of the production team for Ish Meets a Mermaid (2025) and had an opportunity to learn by seeing moviemaking up-close. The film is now moving into the post-production phase. The process involves fundraising, securing music, and adding in animation.
