"Everybody loves a spooky mansion in the fall," says Jess McCullough, Museum Director with the City of Superior in the Division of Historic Properties. Fairlawn Mansion in Superior, Wisconsin kicks off a string of Halloween events on October 24th. "A lot of this stuff is brand new programming." Events at Fairlawn range from the spooky and scientific seance experience to the family friendly - and free - Pumpkin Land event.
For the seance experience that starts out the "Hallo-week of Fun" on Saturday the 24th, Twin Cities-base magician Michael Callahan will pay a visit to demonstrate the tricks of the trade once used by mediums. On Monday the 26th, the lights will be doused, and the flashlights will switch on for the ever-popular Flashlight Tours through the 130-year-old mansion. Additionally, on the 28th, some ghostly history will be presented about the Twin Ports and Fairlawn Mansion itself.
For those less adventurous, the Pumpkin Land gathering from 2-5pm on Sunday the 25th offers opportunities to carve pumpkins, play games, and dance to some tunes on the Fairlawn grounds. This day's event is outdoors and free of charge.
For more information or to purchase tickets to any of the events (except for the Fairlawn Explorer Tour, which is sold out), visit the Fairlawn Mansion events calendar.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
