This weekend is the annual Spirit Valley Days, a celebration of and around the West Duluth neighborhood. This year's festivities go from Thursday, August 6th through Sunday, August 10th.
The history of this west side celebration is a bit hazy. "They... named it Spirit Valley Days close to forty-seven-ish years ago," says Amber Brostrom, Spirit Valley Days Coordinator. "It used to be [organized by] a group of the workers; the union workers, the railroad workers." Events include the parade, a car show, vendor events, live music, food trucks, and the Kidfest which will close the festivities on Sunday.
For more information about this year's celebration, visit the Spirit Valley Days website or check out their Facebook page.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
