An exhibition that runs through the summer at Glensheen helps to celebrate the trades that shaped the historic Duluth estate and, indeed, the nation.
Crafting a Gilded Estate opened at the end of June at Glensheen with assistance and support from the Duluth Fiber Guild, Duluth Pottery, Lake Superior Art Glass, and the Forging Community. This week, there are a few special events to couple with the exhibition.
On July 27th at 5:30pm the Duluth Fiber Guild will highlight rug history. Attendees will be able to walk away with their own woven bookmarks. And on July 30th at 6:30pm, Dr. Jennifer Webb (Associate Professor of Art History at UMD) will talk about early 20th century prints and drawings.
"It's always really wonderful when you're able to do... something akin to what is being seen," says Annie Dugan. "You can understand with your own hands how something is made."
