If you're looking for the intersecting point between art and science, find Nate Pollesch. The co-founder of the monthly science gathering Café Sci (which meets at Dovetail Café on the first Thursday of every month) and the singer/guitarist for the local band Old Love (which just released new recordings and announced upcoming shows) not only exists in both the creative world and the analytical one, but also thrives in finding the connection between the two.
On the music side of Nate's past, his first album purchase was the first big album by the first big pop-punk band. The first live concert he attended (which he was forced to by his father) was not to his liking, even if the band was happily singing about friendship. And his guilty pleasure song is not likely to be spinning at any social gatherings. "If I went to a party and put this on, I know I'd be doing it for basically just me."
You can hear Back Tracks every Friday at 8am on Northland Morning.
