There's plenty of news regarding exhibits, including some details about the Duluth Art Institute's Annual Member Show. For the second year in a row, the People's Choice Award went to Natalija Walbridge. "Walbridge does really fascinating work that looks like painting," says Annie Dugan. "But then you realize as you get closer that it's in fabric." Walbridge's work, as well as the work of many others who were a part of the show, will be up through June.
At Siiviis Gallery, the new exhibition from Ben McGaffey Moments Woven is up and on display. "He's looking at these wonderful ways that the day-to-day life is sort of held and celebrated," says Dugan of McGaffey's work. The exhibit will be up through July 7th, and an opening reception will take place from 4-7pm on Thursday, June 4th.
And as summer begins, Annie Dugan is happy to provide some summer reading for those interested in art-related books. All the Beauty in the World by Patrick Bringley is Dugan's first recommendation for the season. The book highlights the life of a security guard at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
