Peeps are a polarizing aspect of the Easter season. While some people enjoy eating them, others... make art!
At the Superior Public Library this week, you can check out artwork created by using those Easter-season treats, Peeps. "This is folks young and old who can appreciate this particular fluffy medium," says Annie Dugan. "Just a weird phenomenon in our culture. Sugary, marshmallow wonderfulness." The show will be on display now through April 11th.
The Douglas County Historical Society is looking ahead by putting out a call for their Frame It exhibit. The focus of the exhibit is to highlight visual art that utilizes text. "Writing is a form of visual communication at its heart," says Dugan. "The alphabet is essentially lines and shapes that we recombine to mean certain different things."
Photographer Erica Dischino is the artist behind the upcoming exhibit Our Place. On Thursday, April 16th from 5-7pm at the Douglas County Historical Society, Dischino will present photos of the dive bars of Superior, Wisconsin. The program will begin at 5:30pm with light refreshments served.
For those looking to submit art, calls are out for submissions to the Gender Joy Art Show, the Tiny Art Show through the Duluth Public Library, and the 5 Minute Film Fest through Prøve Gallery.
You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
