How we wind up in our respective professional tracks is sometimes a mystery - and sometimes it's genealogical. For Dr. Emily Woster, who's spent a lifetime loving and learning about author L. M. Montgomery, her career in academia stems from a family tree that has a history of fond attachment to Anne of Green Gables, Prince Edward Island, and the works of Montgomery. This Friday, Emily will be presenting on the personal library of the author at The College of St. Scholastica at 3:40pm in the Raven room in the CSS library.
As focused as Emily's academic pursuits are, her music history is extremely varied. Her first album purchase was a "cool" selection that she kept secret from her parents. Her first concert was in Branson, Missouri by an artist whose name has been lost to memory. And when it comes to guilty pleasure songs, Emily heads back to the familiar haunt of maritime Canada. "There's this earnestness that a lot of other people would find a little corny, a little forced, but it's not."
You can hear Back Tracks every Friday at 8am on Northland Morning.
