This Saturday, February 28th, is “Bow Wow Bingo,” a fundraiser for the Carlton County Animal Rescue (CCAR).

Carlton County Animal Rescue is a nonprofit organization that originated three years ago. A small group of volunteers got the operation up and running. The need is substantial; in 2025 alone, over 500 dogs and cats were rehomed. Many animals are either strays, surrendered or abandoned.

As of now, most funding support comes from local community members and businesses. There is a fundraising committee that hosts a variety of events to assist with vetting costs, essential insurance, and a new shelter building – currently in the works.

This is the fourth “Bow Wow Bingo” event for the organization. Bingo has been a big hit for CCAR. Saturday’s event will be at the Grand View Grill and Bar on the lower level. The Grand View was formerly the Dry Dock and is located on Midway Road. The event starts at 1:00 pm, but the doors open at noon. The cost is 25 dollars per person, plus 5 dollars per extra bingo board. There will be 12 rounds of bingo. 100-dollar cash prizes will be awarded for the “Blackout Coverall” rounds and a selection of gift baskets for the winners of other rounds.

You do not have to live in Carlton County to access the Carlton County animal rescue. Volunteers are always needed for adoption events, processing applications and general operational maintenance. More information is available through the CCAR website. Donations of any kind are always welcome!
