Katie Neff Dawson found her way to the Northland thanks to a Volkswagen that she received as a tip. After arriving in Duluth, she initially got involved with 103.3 FM when she made a phone call to voice concerns about the lack of musical diversity during the Women's Music Show. Since then, Katie has hosted a wide variety of the shows on The North and has become integral in the music digitizing process.
With a wealth of musical experiences, narrowing down answers to our Back Tracks questions proved difficult. However, an early first album that is remembered fondly includes a track about a hungry snake. One of Katie's first concerts was of an acoustic guitar virtuoso. And the list of guilty pleasure songs is long, but she settled on an artist with a penchant for making his audience laugh. "He had a million songs like that."
Back Tracks receives support from Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union. You can hear Back Tracks every Friday at 8am on Northland Morning.
