For the internationally renowned, locally based bell choir Strikepoint, 2025 has been a year of firsts, due in large part to the passing of founding member Bill Alexander. "The group is a family, so it's been an interesting year," says Derek Bromme, a member of Strikepoint. "Bill started this thing. It's his passion project."
Strikepoint was first established in 1984. In this first year without its founding member, the ringing continues going strong. This Friday night, Strikepoint will be presenting holiday tunes via the bells, and with a few special guests. "It feels like you're in the middle of something really magical," says Strikepoint member Christine Winkler about performing with the group. "One of the things I love about it is I consider it the ultimate music ensemble."
A Bell Noël, the annual Strikepoint holiday concert, takes place on Friday, December 19th at First United Methodist Church in Duluth at 7pm. Tickets, which are $25 or $10 for students and children, can be purchased at the door. More information about Strikepoint can be found on their website.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
