It came from planet Boub!
Now in its 4th year, the annual holiday light display in Duluth's hillside known as Boubville continues to draw inspiration from a planet far away for its festive decorations. According to Boubville lore, extraterrestrials were scanning the Milky Way, noticed Bentleyville, and were taken by the celebration. "We've got interdimensional being traveling across the universe to participate," says Daniel Benoit, one of the creators of Boubville. "But they always get it wrong."
The just-off-the-mark Boubs will once again be presenting a variety of art installments and musical presentations. Patrons will be privy to the Birthing Canal Park, the Blacklight Forest, and the SpaceBox; a technological means of hearing what's going on back on planet Boub.
Boubville 2025 will also include a streetside art display with the unhoused community in mind. "This year, we're trying to cover the entire frontage of our property - edge to edge," says Benoit. 'The Gonzoheart Miracle' display is an opportunity for community members to bring a strand of lights to donate and contribute to the creation.
Boubville is open in the evenings of December 11th, 12th and 13th this year. For more information, follow the Boubville Facebook page.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
