Back Tracks: Three Music Questions with Kyle Gray Young

A bearded man in black clothes and a blue tie plays a guitar and sings into a microphone in front of a blue sign reading "Finn Fest"
FinnFest

As the Music Coordinator for FinnFest 2025, Kyle Gray Young has the appropriate history and resume for the job. The quarter-Finnish musician first turned his ear to Finland when he first heard the Finnish band Egotrippi - a band he loved so much, he took a February trip to Finland to see them in concert. Information about the music schedule at this year's FinnFest can be found online at FinnFest.us.

For a first album, Kyle picked up an LP at the age of five. His first concert was a family trip to southern Illinois that led to a meet-and-greet with the performer after the show. And his guilty pleasure song takes a big step away from the pop vibe of his first album and concert and goes deep into the avant garde. "It's just completely wild, and I love it."
