Twenty-three years ago, KC Dueñas walked into a recruiting station looking to speak with someone about joining a branch of the armed services; the Marines and the Air Force were out to lunch. Thus, a long history with the Navy began. Now stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Dueñas is back in her old stopping grounds for Navy Week and for some family time.
For a first album, Dueñas gravitated to a compilation. The first live concert she attended was a road trip to the Twin Cities with a friend and her friend's mom. And her guilty pleasure song is one that she'll put on to get moving. "I'll throw that on at work and close the door... and kind of hide around the corner."
