This weekend brings several opportunities to see local art - in some nontraditional places.
Artist Kathryne Ford has a solo exhibit called Reverie opening at Prøve Gallery. "She's interested in creating experiences, creating environment," says Annie Dugan of Ford's work. "A lot of her work takes place live at music shows." The exhibit runs through June 21st. There is an opening reception on Friday, June 6th from 6-9pm.
Recently, Natalija Walbridge was awarded the People's Choice award at the Duluth Art Institute Member's Show. The fabric and fiber work from Walbridge can also be seen on the walls at the Denfeld Co-op.
The Loch Cafe and Games is spreading their wings and hosting an art show. Usually, the establishment is focused on D&D and Magic: The Gathering, but that changes on Saturday for the Soft Edges Art Show, which will feature work by scientists.
Also on Saturday is the Trans Joy Fest from 11am-4pm in the Park Point Rec Area. The event includes games, kids' activities, clothing giveaways, and vendors.
You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
