It's a dynamic week in the arts world. Not only is the Homegrown upon us, but the music of the annual Twin Ports festival will be complemented with movies, comics, and more.

On Saturday, May 3rd, the Thunder Film Festival is happening at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College. The event begins with short films at 4pm followed by a feast. At 7pm the focus shifts to a teach-in with photographer Travis Novitsky.

In a renovated church on the hillside in Duluth, the Great Lakes Academy of Fine Arts is hosting their 9th annual student/instructor show from 5-9pm on Friday, May 2nd and 12-5pm on Saturday, May 3rd. The academy accepts 3-5 students each year for a four-year, full-time commitment.

And if comics are more your speed, Saturday is Free Comic Book Day. Collector's Connection in Duluth will host illustrator Jesse Switters and writer Paul Hallgren. The two will be present to talk about their collaborative work Smarg.

You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
