The busy art week has already begun.
Last Friday, the Douglas County Historical Society opened their latest exhibit (Re)Collecting. The artwork by Susanna Gaunt utilizes items from the natural world and from natural history to "make order of the chaos in the world." The exhibit is open during the Historical Society's regular hours.
Opening this coming Saturday, April 19th at the Enger Lofts Makers Space is work from Lissa Scotland. "There's no holding back when I look at these paintings," says Annie Dugan of Scotland's work. The opening reception will take place from 5-6pm.
And the Northland - and the world - says goodbye to Cheng-Khee Chee. The watercolor artist, illustrator of Old Turtle, and U of M Professor Emeritus passed away recently. Cheng-Khee Chee and his spouse called the area home for the past six decades. Those wishing to commemorate the life of the artist are encouraged to donate to the UMD Cheng-Khee and Sing-Bee Chee Art Scholarship.
You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
