Back Tracks: Three Music Questions with Karl von Rabenau

Bearded man with dress shirt and blue suit coat
Minnesota Ballet

Karl von Rabenau first saw the Minnesota Ballet's production of The Nutcracker as a youth. After some encouragement from his mother to channel his energy into something productive, Karl was on his way to performing in the annual production himself. Now, as the Artistic Executive Director, Karl is providing direction from off-stage to make the tradition of The Nutcracker at the DECC a magical experience. For tickets to this season's performance, visit the Minnesota Ballet website.

After returning a gift that he wasn't as thrilled about, Karl procured his first album. His first concert was a must-see artist at The Igloo in Pittsburgh. And his guilty pleasure song has a disco spin that is undeniably danceable. "Start playing that and my wife and my two girls start dancing, and it's kind of hard not to."
