Back Tracks: Three Music Questions with Mara Lovejoy

Mara Lovejoy has been keeping quite busy with performances in the area as a solo performer and with her band. She recently returned from a trip to Chicago where she played two DIY venues. Even with considerable traction in the music scene, Mara is working to complete her music education at UMD which comes to a culmination with a piano recital in March.

Looking back, Mara's first album was a joint purchase with her sister that included a track from a hit movie in the 90s. Her first concert was of a pop-punk band with a penchant for stage choreography. And her guilty pleasure song goes full-on power ballad. "Even the ballad part of it is loud... It's so much!"

Back Tracks receives support from Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union. You can hear Back Tracks every Friday at 8am on Northland Morning.
