Stories make the world a better place, but it takes a lot for a story to fall into your hands.
An all-to-frequent reaction for new authors trying to sell their work and promote their book is a dissipation in passion and self-esteem. As a reaction to this, author Heather Wilde has made it her mission to support the writing community and guide authors through the publishing process.
"I just believe in empowering people; your story matters," says Wilde.
Her book Sell Your Book Not Your Soul came together as she discovered ways to sell her books while preserving the love of writing.
The book was also inspired by a woman in hospice care, Patricia Passero, who dreamt of being an author since the age of six. Although Passero passed away last year, her voice is remembered within her memoir, Pig Tales and Popcorn.
Inspired by the memoir Tuesdays with Morrie, Passero and Wilde collaborated on the book that tells Passero's story while illustrating the growing friendship and special interactions between her and Wilde with each visit.
You can find copies of both books on all platforms, and on Heather Wilde's website, Hezzie Mae Book Publishing.
Minnesota Reads is produced at The North 103.3 with funding provided in part by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
