Community Connection: Macbeth - A Dinner Party

For years, actor and director Robert Lee has ruminated on the idea of a reimagined version of Shakespeare's shortest tragedy, Macbeth; a staging that "breaks the fourth wall" and includes the audience as part of the show.

"I had this idea more than ten years ago about the witches mixing cocktails instead of a cauldron," says Lee. "I was really interested in the intimacy of presenting Macbeth."

In this version, the original language is preserved but the characters consider the audience as they are presently in the play. In between the five acts, a course of the meal will be served. Over the last year, Lee began curating a menu with local chef Stuart Gordon for the perfect "medieval banquet" style experience to enhance the immersive dinner party play.

The dinner party will be taking place on the second level of Zeitgeist at 6pm on Sundays and Mondays starting on October 20th and ending November 11th. The Macbeth experience costs $65, and tickets are available on the Zeitgeist website.
