There are few fall activities more wholesome than pumpkin carving and storytime. Duluth Parks & Rec is teaming up with the Duluth Public Library once again for its fourth annual Pumpkin Palooza.
"[Parks & Rec] reached out to us because they had this idea to have a pumpkin carving program, and they wanted us to come in and add the literacy components," says Carmella Hatch, the Early Literacy Coordinator at the library.
At Pumpkin Palooza, children can carve or paint small pumpkins provided by the Whole Foods Co-op, visit the "Little Library Go Van", and listen to a fall-themed story. They might even get to hear one about a particularly Plumply, Dumply Pumpkin.
Cameron Herrity, Early Literacy Technician, also explains that children can get a library card from the Go Van and take a book to keep from their "Little Red Bookshelf" cart.
Families can celebrate Pumpkin Palooza this Saturday October 12 at the Harrison Community Center from 10-12pm.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
