Marlene M. Johnson, Minnesota's first female Lieutenant Governor, has lived a life of love, perseverance and leadership. In her memoir, Rise to the Challenge, Johnson takes readers through her experience navigating politics, personal loss, and more.
"I came to realize that throughout my life I have always had leadership roles," says Johnson, referring to her positions as a caregiver, lieutenant governor, and CEO of an international nonprofit. Johnson served politically from 1983-1991 as Lieutenant Governor with Governor Rudy Perpich, an administration that worked toward equity and representation, particularly in leadership roles.
Johnson's first book signing event will be on September 26th at 7pm at Zenith Books in Duluth. Rise to the Challenge is available online and at various bookstores.
