Scott Stowell

Born in Philidelphia, raised in Chicago, and then relocated to Wisconsin, Scott Stowell has been tied to a variety of locations around the country. Two decades ago, he and his wife made a big decision and one final move.

Currently living in Ely, Minnesota and working as a shuttle driver for Ely Outfitting Co., Stowell is inspired by northern Minnesota, incorporating the humor and depth found there into his writing. Stowell's self-published book Back Road Grace is a collection of short memoirs about the life and steadfast culture of northern Minnesota. Readers will be introduced to animals (both pets and wild) and neighbors (both human and cryptid), as well as to a small town called Buyck.

Back Road Grace is available locally at Zenith Bookstore and Barnes and Noble, as well as online via Stowell's website. Back Road Grace was made possible in part by a grant from Ely’s Donald G. Gardner Humanities Trust, and an Individual Artist Project Grant made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Minnesota Reads is produced at The North 103.3 with funding provided in part by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Luke Moravec is the host for Northland Morning on The North 103.3. He’s also a local actor, musician and writer. He loves puzzles, riddles and fun mysteries.
