"This is a new chapter in my life," says felt artist Lila Boehland. After a professional career as a media specialist, Boehland was looking for a new avenue for creativity. Felt work stuck. "I just fell in love with felting."
Through a process that involves barbed needles, water, and patience, Boehland creates nature images that are ultimately detailed and textured. After the bulk of the project is complete, Boehland adds touches here and there as she sees fit. "I sew on beads, I add lace; whatever it tells me it needs."
Boehland's work can be found at Siiviis Gallery in Canal Park and at Sivertson Gallery in Grand Marais. As such, she doesn't attend art fairs anymore - with one exception. "I don't think I can ever give up the Park Point Art Fair," says Boehland of the gathering happening on June 29th and 30th. "It is such a joyous event."
