It's difficult to tell where motivation will come from. Sometimes it stems from the support of fans, other times it's from a rejection letter. And in rare instances it comes from an exploding pig named George.
As a child, crime author Mike Faricy read a story, at the end of which a gluttonous pig explodes from eating too much birthday cake. "That just kind of clicked with me," says Faricy who has gone on to find success in self-published crime fiction. The author has over 80 titles to his name and the number keeps growing. Retirement Scheme, the 16th book in the Jack Dillon series was released in June; Rebel Without a Clue is the 35th book in the Dev Haskell series and will be available in August.
"I'm always looking for storylines," says Faricy who likes to keep the crime in his books in an every-day scope. "No one is going to be parachuting onto the roof of the White House to save the president in my books... It's simple, screwy, stupid types of crime, but, you know, that's part of life."
Faricy's books are available through various channels online. "All my books are free on Kindle Unlimited," says Faricy. Books are also frequently offered for free twice a month through email offers from the author. Interested readers can email the author (found in audio) or visit his website.
