Community Connection: Jean Sramek and Reading Resolutions

“Take that list and tear it up.” That’s what Jean Sramek says about New Year’s reading lists. “Just grab something and read it... You will never read everything that you want to read. Every week that goes by hundreds of more books are published."

Sramek, who works for both The North and Zenith Bookstore, suggests being open; branch out and read a little bit of everything. “Mix it up. Read something that you think you won’t like.” Sramek also suggests picking up collections that will offer readers a variety. “It’s like a flight or a sampler.” These collections can be a quick way to discover new authors, genres, and styles.

So, keeping things simple could be the best way to approach your reading goals in 2023; just pick up a book and give it a chance.
