MN Reads: “Walleye – A Beautiful Fish of the Dark” by Paul J. Radomski

University of Minnesota Press 2022

“It’s just a fascinating fish,” says author Paul J. Radomski of the walleye. Radomski’s new book Walleye – A Beautiful Fish in the Dark is an exploration of the walleye throughout the years and throughout the region. “It's so beautiful... the color and the strength of that fish."

Although Radomski initially intended to write exclusively a technical book about the walleye, in the end the author didn't shy away from certain ethical and philosophical thoughts - on both community and personal levels. "I was taught at a young age to respect nature, then through college I was taught formally the philosophy of protecting nature," says Radomski. "As people we want to do the right thing... that's in our nature as well."
