Where's Art: This week, it is on our mail, on our morning run, and on the scene
In addition to the many fantastic art galleries in the Twin Ports, there are some wonderful works of art to be seen in the next few weeks in our everyday lives:
- Last week, the US Postal Service released a new set of Forever® stamps memorializing landscape painter and sculptor George Morrison (1919-2000), a member of the Grand Portage Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. The sheet of 20 stamps features five of his landscape paintings. An enlargement of this sheet will be on display in the Corridor Gallery of the Duluth Art Institute, and a reception to mark the honor will be coming up in May.
- A painting by Carolyn Olson has been selected as the image for the Grandma’s Marathon 2022 Commemorative poster.
- Emily Koch is the artist for the Homegrown Music Festival 2022 Field Guide cover.
- Jonathan Thunder is the artist for the Homegrown Music Festival 2022 T-shirt.
