Radio Gallery: Lake Superior Art Festival

Midnight Oil Studio & Workshop

This Saturday, August 11, is the 5th Annual Lake Superior Art Festival at Brighton Beach. Over 70 local and regional artists will be sharing their work on the beautiful shore of Lake Superior in Duluth.

Local artists Allison and Jonathan Metzger are returning to the festival for their 3rd year.

Through their Midnight Oil Studio & Workshop, the Metzgers are offering their stunning fine-art, silk-screen prints on paper.  Their work through Midnight Oil Studio & Workshop is also spotlighted at Zeitgeist with a show on display at the cafe through August.

Jonathan Metzger joins us on Radio Gallery to talk more about their careful, delightful, printing process, their inspiration and current projects.

A taste of what else you'll find at this weekend's Lake Superior Art Festival includes three-dimensional works like birdhouses by Allan Anderson, sculpture by Ken Patzoldt, Stacey Johnson jewelry, handmade-painted purses from Betty Sitbon and other handmade textiles. You'll also find wall art including photography from Ryan Tischer and Carol Bowman, paintings by Jill Killian and Nikki Johnson, as well as silk-screened prints by our guest today, Jonathan and Allison Metzger, and many, many more artists and media.

The Lake Superior Art Festival at Brighton Beach is free and open to the public all day Saturday, August 11, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Brighton Beach is on Lake Superior on the northeast end of Duluth just past the Lester River.
