Radio Gallery 12-12-2012 Rick Hansen

Several of the Northshore's local artists and studios are gearing up for winter, as many of them prepare to open their holiday exhibits. Art openings are a wonderful way to get out into the community, as well as an opportunity to find beautiful handmade Christmas gifts. This week we speak with Rick Hansen, curator of the Prove Gallery's "Under 100" sale.

The Prove Gallery is a relatively new studio, located in downtown Duluth, in the stunning Sons of Norway Building. Hansen is part of the five person collective that co-founded this studio, and he is also the administrator. Prove stands out from other galleries in Duluth by being one of the few studios dedicating solely to art exhibition. They also represent artists from all different stages in their career, bringing in more variation and strengthening the local artists' community. This Friday, Prove will be kicking of their "Under 100" holiday art sale, providing refreshments, and hosting Lion Gazelle's CD release party at 8pm. Tune in to hear Hansen discuss the vital role that art studios like prove play in our community.
