Altered Esthetics, a non-profit community-based art gallery, will be opening an exhibit titled "Home" with an opening reception on Friday, September 2, 2011 from 7pm-10pm. Altered Esthetics is located at 1224 Quincy St NE, in Minneapolis, MN.

Radio Gallery speaks with Kristin Thompson, the exhibitions director at Altered Esthetics about the exhibit "Home" and the role that Altered Esthetics plays in the community. "Home" presents artists reaction to immigration, homelessness, and what it means to have a sense of belonging in the world. In the exhibit each artist has created their own vision of home which shows how each person has a different idea of what "home" means to them. The gallery aims to keep their shows open for interpretation so that each individual can learn something new about themselves and the world around them. It is a place for artists to voice themselves, and because it is run by volunteers the community plays a large role in the success of Altered Esthetics. "Home" opens with a reception on Friday, September 2, 2011 from 7pm-10pm and their is an artists' discussion on Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 1pm-3pm. Altered Esthetics is located at 1224 Quincy St NE, in Minneapolis, MN.
