Radio Gallery speaks with visual artist Sarah Nakano about her upcoming show called "Half Awake" at SOO Visual Arts Center. Radio Gallery 11-10-2010: Sarah Nakano

This week on Radio Gallery, Nakano shares her ideas, inspiration, and journey as a young artist. Her show at SOO Visual Arts Center is her first solo exhibition and is called "Half Awake." The opening reception is on Saturday, November 13th from 6-9pm and the show will run until January 2nd. It explores the ideas of three themes: consciousness, dreams, and nighttime. Her work is predominately in photography, but she utilizes a variety of different mediums to examine and portray states of consciousness. Soo Visual Artc Center is located at 2638 Lyndale Avenue South Minneapolis, MN.

Former Program Director, Maija Jenson teaches journalism in the Department of Communication at UMD and was a part of KUMD 2008-2019. She hosted a weekly arts program "Radio Gallery." She shares a lifetime of public radio listening, degrees in journalism and art and 20 years of public radio experience with KFAI, WHA, WSUM and KUMD.
