Rangers interview on the Local

An album cover that reads Ranger in big letters across the middle, with By Rangers in smaller type at the bottom. The worlds are on top of a photo of a small waterway at sunset, with an Ojibwe woodland floral design overlaid on the sky.
Rangers

Rangers is an all-star band of Iron Range natives including 7-time Native American Music Award winner Keith Secola, Rich Mattson and Germaine Gemberling of Rich Mattson and the Northstars, Tim Saxhaug of Trampled by Turtles, Steve Martinetti, Rosemary Berens, Dan Boyer, John Metsa, Sharon Rowbottom, Chris Petrack, and Tim Wright. Secola, Mattson, and Gemberling joined us to talk about their debut album, Ranger, which highlights the songwriting talents of 9 members of the group. The album was released by KBFT Records, operated by KBFT Community Radio and the Bois Fort band of Chippewa. The project was a reunion of sorts for Secola and members of his first band, the Schwartz Brothers, with the addition of a younger generation of Iron Range musicians. We spoke with the performers on the eve of a short tour that would take them around Minnesota.

Christine is The North 103.3's Music Director, a host of Music Through the Day, and the producer of Live from Studio A.
