In these middle days of September, there are the highlights that everyone is talking about. Migration of raptors, and so many other birds, is happening - counting is well underway at Hawk Ridge. Select trees are starting to change their color, enticing hikers and first-wave leaf peepers.
But Larry Weber is more excited about something that we've been largely deprived of this summer; mushrooms. With the recent uptick in rain, seeing mushrooms can now reasonably be added to the to-do list. And as sensational as September is, that to-do list is going to be a long one for anyone making the most of nature these days.
