Backyard Almanac: Birds (and Deer) at the Feeder

For the first few days of January, temps are slightly high, and precipitation is slightly low. But things are just getting started and could change before we know it. With snow and cooler temps in the forecast, numbers should average out sooner than later.

Birdfeeders are still busy gathering places. Not only are birds using them to get a few extra calories, but the deer are also reaping the benefits of low hanging feeders and messy birds that push the seeds to the ground.

And even though mountain lion sightings seem like last month's news, Larry Weber has spotted some tracks suggesting that there's still some mountain lion activity in the area.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
