Two turtle doves, three French hens... and four wintering woodpeckers.

Resident naturalist Larry Weber is keeping an eye on the avion activity, as well as animal tracks, and - if you can believe it - fleas! Even in the dark days of December, some insects are still finding a way to survive in the slight space between the earth and the covering of snow. On warmer days when the snow melts a bit, you might be able to spot a flea flitting about.
You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
