Backyard Almanac: Autumn Equinox Action

A forest road in fall

Summer officially comes to a close on Monday afternoon, and all of the signs of the autumn equinox are beginning to bloom and burst across the Northland.

Migration continues with a wide variety of avions being spotted in greater numbers. The fall colors are also turning a corner with the percentage of changing leaves ticking upward more each day.

And for something a little more boisterous, squirrel watching can be a real treat this time of year. These critters are skittering about and scavenging all for the betterment of a winter food cache.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.

Luke Moravec is the host for Northland Morning on The North 103.3. He’s also a local actor, musician and writer. He loves puzzles, riddles and fun mysteries.
