There's plenty to talk about when it comes to Sensational September. The leaves are beginning to change, migration continues to increase, and the sunsets are progressively earlier offering some opportunities for starry night walks.

In less talked about news, turtles are also worth watching out for. Snapping turtle eggs are likely to be hatching any day now, and painted turtles have been making the most of the fleeting sunshine by basking on logs in local ponds and lakes.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.

Luke Moravec is the host for Northland Morning on The North 103.3. He’s also a local actor, musician and writer. He loves puzzles, riddles and fun mysteries.
