Helping the bees doesn't have to be arduous or expensive. Tom Kasper has some tips for anyone looking to create a pollinator garden on the cheap.
Over the next couple of months, there are steps to take. Harvesting seed heads from the pollinators that are currently starting to wilt is a good first step. Collect and store the seeds in a bag for two months.
While your waiting for October to roll around, prep your space. Choose an area with good soil or focus on a raised bed. A layer of cardboard followed by a layer of healthy soil will do the trick.
A few weeks after the start of autumn, sprinkle the seeds on top of the healthy soil, followed by a sprinkling of some more soil. Then wait. In the summer of 2026, the bees will be showing their gratitude.
