If the gray days of November have you retreating indoors, don't let that stifle your passion for plants. Tom Kasper recommends foraging for boughs, branches and berries to create a decorative flowerpot to display on your front porch for the holidays.
Start with a dirt filled pot (one that is left over from a summer of displaying flowers will do) then begin to add a variety of sticks and bits of green, working from the outside in. There are no wrong answers; just apply your creativity and make a decorative holiday pot that you'll be happy with displaying. Once all of the natural elements are in place, consider bulbs, ribbon, or even lights to push the aesthetics up a notch.
With the combination of the holiday season and a rainy day ahead of us, now could be a perfect time to enjoy the indoors and explore the creative side of the gardening world.
