Backyard Almanac: November Activity

With no more color on the trees and no more daylight late in the afternoon, November can get a bad reputation as being a boring and dull month. However, there's still plenty of action from animals and plant-life alike.

Keep your eyes on the skies for birds that are still on their migratory journey, and for those birds that are staying in the area who are busy prepping for the cold months ahead.

November has already gotten a healthy amount of rain. This hydration has had an impact on the lichen on the trees. Especially after two straight months of nearly no rain, the lichen seem eager to soak up the moisture and swell in size.

Larry Weber has been enjoying the critter sightings as well, but he's holding off on putting out the suet... he'll cross that bridge once he's sure the bears are asleep.

You can hear Backyard Almanac every Friday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
