Both planets are about 7° high 35 minutes after sunset right now. Come September, Jupiter will slowly climb higher and higher while Venus "stalls" at around the same altitude.

Jupiter and Venus are neck-and-neck these evenings ... and Mickey Mouse is on the moon

Venus and Jupiter are eyeing one another across the expanse of the evening sky these days, but apparently, Jupiter is getting ready to make its move.

Plus three craters on the moon will be making faces at us in a few days, and Bob King may be reporting for us live from the bottom of the world in November for the total solar eclipse!
