This week we are joined by John Richardson, Count Interpreter for the Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory.  Hawk Ridge is gearing up for another season, and John reports that activity began picking up last week.  Many great birds have already been spotted, including common nighthawks, bald eagles, and broad-winged hawks.  Also they were delighted a few days ago to spot a black vulture!

The observers and counters for the Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory maintin a Migration Count 2019 website with live updates, showing numbers, species, and up-to-the-minute observations.

Visitors are always welcome and encouraged to come to Hawk Ridge in the coming several weeks as the fall activity continues. Observers are happy to answer questions, and naturalists are stationed at Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve’s overlook to answer questions and give public programs and bird demonstrations.
