KUMD shares a week of sustainability interviews leading up the the Lake Superior Sustainable Farming Association's annual Harvest Festival.

Sustainability Week: What Was Old Is New Again at UMD

Sustainability can be found many places in Duluth, including UMD's campus. Since its start in 2009, UMD's Sustainable Agriculture Project has made a lot of positive changes on campus, especially in the dining hall.

We talk with Dr. Randy Hanson, the head of UMD's SAP about campus practices regarding food, both in training and in equipment, including the ability to flash freeze local produce, and using UMD's root cellar that dates back to the 1920s.

KUMD is a proud sponsor of the UMD Sustainable Agricultural Project's Food and Farm Festival, happening Sunday, September 18th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The event features a scenic 5k run through the farm, a farmer's market, and an affordable local meal prepared by UMD's head chef.  All proceeds benefit the Sustainable Agricultural Project.
