Kala Moria has been playing the tuba since sixth grade when she was informed that all the other instruments were taken. You can still hear Kala playing tuba these days in the punk polka band Winzige Hosen. You can also see Kala as the emcee for many Duluth Dolls shows. The burlesque troupe is performing their annual Halloween show at the Caddy Shack on Halloween night starting at 9pm. Additionally, Kala keeps busy with the podcast Left of Skeptic that explores spooky things ranging from paranormal to normal.
Diving into music history, Kala's first album purchase was made later in the game due to not having a job. Her first live concert was headlined by the artist behind her first album, though it was the impact of an opening act that led to three tattoos. And for a guilty pleasure song, Kala turns to the entrance music by a Twin Cities wrestler. "I just catch myself every time singing along."
You can hear Back Tracks every Friday at 8am on Northland Morning.
