The 2025 Homegrown Music Festival - less than a year ago - marked something of an official beginning for Spirit of the Lake Community Arts (SOLCA) as a music venue.
"A group of parents and local artists wanted to do something great with the building that's kind of nestled right there in Lakeside," says Kayla Krasselt, programming coordinator with SOLCA. "We started our first classes the fall of 2023 and it's been growing since then."
In an effort to incorporate music, the arts space recently dove into outfitting their venue for musical performances. With guidance, they updated their sound equipment and adapted the old church space, giving some area scenesters the vibe of a mini–Sacred Heart.
Throughout the winter, SOLCA has hosted music events every Saturday. The weekend events continue in March with Kyle Orla performing on the 7th, Simon Cropp on the 14th, Climes on the 21st, and Hot Tamale Cosmos on the 28th.

You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
